Celebrating you!

This is the birthday card I made this year for my brother in law, Rob.  I was so happy to finally get to use a few new things that hadn’t been done up yet. This pup is from an Inkadinkadoo set called Patterned Pets and I really like that he works great with masculine cards.

The papers are from two sets, Cosmo Cricket’s Salt Air (the background bubbles) and the DCWV design paper from Latte Paper Stack (the lattice medallions).  All the other papers are from our stash. The banner is created with the Photo Finish Strip die from Papertrey Ink. This particular one is a bit hard to see but there are two grooves embossed into the paper and I’ve stamped “Here’s to Celebrating You” between them. A couple of layered buttons and some thicker baker’s twine finish things off.

You are Unique

So tomorrow, April 8th is my niece’s 8th birthday and this is the card I made for her. I coloured this Stamping Bella image, You are Unique with copic markers (listed below for those that are interested).  I really like this stamp and it was perfect for Ellery as she looks a fair bit like the girl on the bottom left corner. The papers are from the Jillibean Soup 6X6 paper pad, Dutch Mustard which is a fun collection of browns, yellows, oranges and lime greens.  The paper flowers came from Michael’s and the green sparkle brads are from Stampin’ Up!.

The little green scalloped edge was done with a Fiskar’s punch, Threading Water and the embossed orange panel was created with one section of the Mary Ann folder by Cuttlebug.  The ribbon and brads on the flowers are from our stash.

Colours: B21, B45, Y11, Y21, Y28, YG03, YG23, YR23, RV23, R32, R85 and skin E50, E51, E53, E3`, E33, W7, W9

Love Ewe

So I got this Unity stamp and sentiment Love Ewe during one of our travels to Atlantic Canada and hadn’t gotten around to inking it up.   When Valentine’s Day rolled around I went looking online for some ideas on how people had used this stamp and found Kathi had a great layout and Savannah had used tissue paper to create a cool texture.

I punched a bunch of 1″ tissue paper circles and then instead of leaving them as tufts, I rolled the pieces into balls to give me a wooly texture.  The string of hearts is cut from a pierced heart border die (can’t seem to find where we got it!) and the patterned paper is from Martha Stewart’s Key and Heart Valentine’s pad.

Happy Beerday!

So here we have Beer Peep from Stamping Bella. He was the perfect image to use for my brother in law’s birthday as Rob is a home brew enthusiast.  I have to say that colouring beer is not the easiest thing, this one appears to be a Corona!  It’s a bit hard to see in the photo but the yellow background paper is embossed with the QuicKutz Retro Squares embossing folder although I’m not sure it’s available anymore as I had a hard time finding it online and a different QuicKutz folder now seems to have that name.

And another confession, this was Rob’s 2011 birthday card – sheesh!

Jim’s Birthday

First, a bit of a confession – Jim’s birthday was in August!

So here we have Ian Laddie from the Greeting Farm line of stamps. My husband’s family background is Scottish so of course Ian in his kilt made for a great focal point.  I didn’t quite have the papers to match the MacKenzie tartan but the blue and green with a touch of red are at least in the ballpark.   I paper pieced his tam and kilt as well as the sash while the sporran and jacket were coloured with copic markers. A large silver brad adorns his tam.

The camera paper was another very specific thing for this card as Jim has a love of photography and is still a die-hard film user, printing black and white photos in the darkroom.  I used the Nestabilites: Reverse Wonky Rectangles and Wonky Rectangles, around my sentiment.

Snow much fun!

This card was from an idea we came up with together and is based on the Snowman from the Stampin Up! set Snow Much Fun.  The image was stamped with Stampin’ Up’s! chocolate chip ink and only a touch of colour was added to keep that simple, rustic look.  A knotted satin ribbon was added and we created two different colour palettes in order to augment our stock of cards without completely starting from scratch!

Mother’s Day Peep

This was a card I made for Mother’s Day. The stamp is Earl Grey Peep from Stamping Bella which I coloured and paper pieced. The focal point was cut with the reverse wonky rectangle from Nestability. I crocheted the peach flower (youtube is a great resource as I had never crocheted anything before in my life!) and added a blue button to the centre. I rounded the card corners and then swiped the edge with blue ink to match her blue dress. The scalloped edge is from Papertrey Ink and the baker’s twine finishes it off.

Surprise!

First off, way to go, Sandi for all these blog posts showing off all your hard work!

I have quite a few posts I need to make but I thought I’d start with this one because it was my entry into April 22′s Bellarific Friday over at Stamping Bella. It’s fun to be able to participate in a challenge at another blog and we really love when people come over to our blog and leave us a comment or two! This week the theme was “anything goes” which means that as long as you have a Stamping Bella image to use you are good to go.

Since I needed a birthday card I picked Sneaky Sneaky Birthday Bella as my image and then paper pieced my little heart out.   I stamped the couch on green patterned paper and then stamped it again on some scraps to create coloured pillows. I stamped it yet again on white cardstock so that I could colour Bella’s head and all the hats of her “hidden” friends.  It’s a bit hard to see in the photo but the hats and prezzies have all sorts of glitz and glam worthy of a Bella birthday celebration.  The best part of all? – my co-worker loved it!

You are HOW old?!?!

Ha ha ha…. I couldn’t resist this Clearly Swanky stamp set from the Cat’s Pajama’s called Smells Like Cake.  This card was made for my husband Rob and it made him laugh.  The image is so much fun… those peguins have quite a lot of character!!  I follow several blogs to learn new techniques and just to get layout ideas, etc.  This particular card was cased from a card my by Jodi Collins at Stamping a Latte.

It’s so cute I just might have to make it a few more times… perhaps with a a few changes!

So grown up!

My children’s birthdays are very close together so it’s been a buuuuussssy couple of weeks around here.  Ellery turned 7 on April 8th and we hosted her very first little girl’s birthday party.  She decided on a pajama party (in the middle of the aftenoon) so our living room was transformed into a blankie fortress and we served loaded waffles (and mini cupcakes) to the girls later in the afternoon. It was tons of fun!  Lots of the little girls made cards for Ellery so it was fun to see their wonderful creations. Here is the card that I made.

Ellery is getting to be so grown up looking that I decided to colour up amplee TUDE from Stamping Bella.  She has beautiful, thick long hair just like Ellery so it was a perfect fit.  The patterened paper is all from K&C Company – Greenhouse paper pack.  I added a little glitter to the headband and clear glaze pen on the ice cream.  The fabric flower was the final touch to finish it off and it comes from Maya Road

Lori, Ellery and I also had fun making the invitations to the birthday party.  We headed to The Greeting Farm and used little Anya from the Me Time Anya set and I believe the pj border came from Stamping Bella (in a bag of free stamps).

Drivin’ in my car!

My son, Cade turned 5 in March – holy moly, where did the time go?!?!  His most favourite toy right now is, well, pretty anything to do with cars.  I created this little boy who is out for a cruise on what appears to be a very windy day.  This stamp is from a company called Ellzybells which unfortunately does not sell stamps anymore.  I colored him with pencil crayons and Copic markers and pop him off the page just a little.  The clouds are from the Up, Up & Away die set from Papertry Ink.  My secret for the lines on the road…. correction tape (hee hee).

I have been wanting to participate in the That’s Krafty Thursday challenge over on Jeannie’s blog for quite some time, and finally have an entry to submit.  If you haven’t visited The Spotted Chick you don’t know what you are missing!!!  She is a wonderful artisit and every time I read her entries I leave smiling.  Sandi

Miranda the teacup girl

I chose to use the Stamping Bella image Miranda the teacup girl from the Green Bean Baby stamps by Ellia.   My daughter was attending a birthday party for her friend who was turning 7 years old.  Miranda seemed the perfect little girl.  I dove into the scrap paper bin for the patterned paper and then it all just kind of fell into place.  Ellery’s friend loved it!! Sandi

The layout was a sketch that was provided  Ebrubella at Stamping Bella, but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to enter it in Bellerafic Friday.  Now that I have photo editing software installed on the computer again I hope to participate more.

Christmas Fun!

These two cards were made with lots of fun in mind.  The first uses an Elzybells stamp, Copic markers and pencil crayon.  Check out that fun snowflake made with cording!! Sandi

This snowman was created from an idea in the Papercrafts November/December 2010 issue (page 21).  I used similar colour and placement, but incorporated my own stamp ideas, etc.  I love using craft paper and was happy with the final outcome of this card.

Snow Sisters

Lori and I had lots of fun creating these two ‘sister’ cards.  We created our own snowflake paper using embossing powder and Versamark.  The wide ribbon helped to bring the colours together and the girl stamps are from Ellzybells.  We gave them a little glitter to brighten the snow and coloured the images with Copics.

Christmas in April?!?

Here it is April and I am posting Christmas cards!!  Our computer went haywire not long after the holidays and it has taken this long to get the photo editing software back onto the machine.  Anyway, here are some of our creations from Christmas.

This is actually a refurbished card from the christmas before.  The original card fell apart so instead of just hitting the recycle bin I tuned it up, made it better and voila!! Sandi

This card was made for our friends Sherry and Tom.  I used the Sockafellabella stamp from Stamping Bella, coloured them with Copics and finished it off with a bright green bow.

Here is another bright and cheerful card made from non-traditional Christmas colours.
